Catalog description

This course is an introduction to composites materials, processing, and manufacturing. The student will learn about resin selection and chemistry, fiber selection, basics of composite mechanics, as well as the major families of processing methods for composites materials. Current trends in the industry and emerging technologies in both industry and academia, including process optimization tools such as simulation, will also be discussed. This course is NOT a laminate design course. This course is intended to be an introduction to many types of composite manufacturing processes.
