Catalog description

This introductory course in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) serves as an exploration into the foundational principles and practical applications of spatial thinking and mapping. Through a blend of discussion and hands-on exercises, students will gain skills in navigating GIS software and telling stories with effective maps. Assuming no previous experience, students will learn to apply spatial thinking in various career fields, including business, urban planning, environmental science, resource management, political science, international studies, fish and wildlife, computer science, geology, environmental science, agriculture, construction, and civil engineering. Students will be prepared to use ArcGIS Pro Desktop at a basic level in an internship or job.
