Catalog description

This practicum provides teacher candidates with hands-on experience working one-on-one with students with reading difficulties, including dyslexia. Candidates will apply their knowledge of assessment and intervention by administering literacy assessments, interpreting results, and designing individualized, evidence-based reading interventions. Through explicit instruction, ongoing progress monitoring, and reflection, candidates will refine their ability to implement effective literacy strategies and adjust interventions based on student needs. Additionally, candidates will collaborate with educators to communicate student progress and support learning goals. Performance will be evaluated using the Danielson Framework for Teaching to ensure high-quality instruction and professional growth. This course is not offered in the Spring.
