Elementary Literacy Practicum

Catalog description

The literacy practicum provides ELED, ECSE, and SPED majors opportunities to apply knowledge of literacy development, reading fluency, vocabulary acquisition, comprehension, literacy assessments, and instruction in an authentic learning environment. Teacher candidates make instructional decisions based on the evaluation of literacy assessment data then design lessons centered on learner needs and deliver literacy instruction to elementary-age children. Teacher candidates build expertise in lesson planning and delivery, classroom management, collaboration skills, and professionalism.
