Brigham Young University-Idaho · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
At the end of this course, teacher candidates will understand that all classroom interactions must be genuinely respectful, warm, caring, and sensitive in order to follow the example of the Savior, the Master Teacher. Candidates will know the components of an environment that is permeated by the Spirit and, as a result, encourage all members of the community to incorporate high standards of learning for themselves and others. Teacher candidates will also understand their role and responsibility in implementing consistent classroom routines, procedures, and transitions to support the development of a productive learning environment. Finally, candidates will know how to develop clear, consistent standards of conduct that encourage appropriate behavior and understand the need for applying those standards with love and patience to help students to effectively govern themselves.
