Catalog description

The Early Field Experience course follows an introduction to the Framework for Teaching (Danielson), providing experience in a public elementary school setting. Teacher candidates work twice a week in a classroom of elementary-aged students under the supervision of a mentor teacher and attend a weekly seminar on campus throughout the semester. Teacher candidates will implement lesson plans provided by and/or approved by their mentor teachers and regularly reflect on the effectiveness of their work. Lessons are observed multiple times throughout the semester culminating in a formal, formative performance evaluation at the end of the semester conducted by the course instructor.
