Catalog description
This course will give teacher candidates a perspective on providing family-focused services with an emphasis on families who have a child with special needs (birth through adulthood). Important issues to be discussed will be on empowering parents, strengthening family and professional partnerships, and inter-agency collaboration. Teacher candidates will develop a family resource plan. They will have practical experience writing an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP), and researching, accessing, and linking families with community resources.
