Catalog description

Student teachers will design developmentally appropriate lesson plans. The student-teacher candidates will participate in practical hands-on experience working with and developing relationships with preschool-aged children both with and without special needs. In this practicum, child-focused planning will be developed through informal assessments of the child's needs and interests, referencing their Individualized Education Plans (IEP) when applicable. This course will provide opportunities to carry out child-focused plans and prepare the student-teachers to use core principles, develop appropriate practices, teach preschool curriculum, and implement principles of child guidance. Student teachers will be expected to apply knowledge learned from the seminar associated with this course in their practicum.
