Experience with Toddlers

Catalog description

Students will utilize assessment, collaboration, and developmental knowledge to design and implement developmentally appropriate activities for toddlers, including those with special needs, through play-based experiences. They will emphasize music, movement, self-help (e.g., snack), language/literacy, creative arts, dramatic play, fine motor, gross motor, sensory exploration, blocks, cognition, and outdoor play. Additionally, they'll learn to implement various interventions supporting children across developmental domains. The course will also cover building relationships and collaborating with families and professionals in early childhood education. Emphasis will be placed on ethical and safety practices in relationships with children and families. In the lab, students will collaborate with families, conduct assessments, monitor progress, and document growth based on individualized plans, family concerns, and child interests.
