Catalog description

This course is meant to be fun and exciting! Students will create a real project of their choosing that will help them to gain excitement about continuing in one of the computing majors. This is a 2-credit course designed to provide freshman students in Computing Degrees at BYU-Idaho with the opportunity to engage in hands-on project development. This course is intended to be taken during the second semester of the freshman year. Students enrolled in CSE199R should have completed or be enrolled concurrently in CSE 111 Programming with Functions or have equivalent programming experience. Students will have the freedom to choose and develop a project of their own interest, leveraging the skills and knowledge acquired from previous coursework or personal exploration. The course emphasizes self-directed learning and project management, as students will not be provided with formal learning materials or structured assignments. Instead, they will have the autonomy to define their project scope, set milestones, and implement solutions using appropriate technologies and methodologies.
