Catalog description

This course provides an introduction to force systems in static equilibrium and an elemental understanding of the strengths of material, the relationship between applied loads and the internal forces and deformations induced in the structural element. Major topics that are covered in the course include forces, moments, couples, free body diagrams, trusses, frames, centroids, moment of inertia, stress, strain, deformation and load, shear, and moment diagrams.
