Chemistry Internship

Catalog description

Internship credits are exempt from tuition charges. However, an administrative fee equal to one credit hour at the current rate of tuition will be charged for an internship course. The fee is in addition to any tuition charges for other classes. Fees are charged independently of tuition and are not subject to the 12-credit tuition cap. All chemistry majors must find and experience a work internship. This would generally occur the semester after their junior year or during their senior year. The experience could involve working for a government agency, industry, an academic institution, or any organization that employs laboratory chemists on their staff. The student will have a contract agreement with the employer and be responsible to a faculty supervisor. Upon completion of the internship, a written report and a presentation will be made for the BYU-Idaho chemistry department as part of the requirement.
