Small Business Creation

Catalog description

This course introduces students to the basics of small business creation. It helps them understand the importance of creating systems and exposes them to the many career opportunities available in the field of entrepreneurship. Students learn about startups, buying existing businesses, franchises, and family-run businesses. Through class discussions, entrepreneur cases, guest entrepreneurs, selected readings, and team projects, students will gain a clear understanding of entrepreneur opportunities. Each student will participate in actually starting a microbusiness during the semester, drafting a one-page business plan on their own big idea, and networking with entrepreneur mentors to support their entrepreneurial idea.
