Range Inventory and Improvement

Catalog description

In this course, students will learn how to inventory rangeland plant communities by determining represented species and their relative abundance and distribution. The course will also present principles of assessing the health of a range community and teach both principles and practices of manipulating plant communities to improve overall range health. Techniques include: prescribed fire, biological control, herbicide treatments, mechanical treatments, and manipulation by herbivory. Economic considerations of these techniques are investigated.
