This course provides students with a comprehensive overview of the frameworks, theories, systems and intellectual traditions that have shaped psychology from its philosophical origins to its present-day applications. Students will trace how key systems of thought including structuralism, functionalism, behaviorism, psychoanalysis, humanism, and cognitive science, have influenced the field’s evolution as both a science and a profession. The course also considers the role of cultural, social, and historical forces in shaping psychology’s development. By integrating perspectives across time, this course helps students consolidate knowledge gained in earlier classes and prepares them for advanced study in psychology.
