Catalog description

This course explores the interrelation between pathophysiology and pharmacology as it pertains to nursing practice. Emphasis is placed on pharmacological principles crucial for nurses, including pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, pharmacogenomics, and pharmacotherapeutics in specific areas of cell function and growth, infection and inflammatory response, and the cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, integumentary, and endocrine systems. Students will learn dosage calculations with a strong focus on safe, evidence-based medication administration. The course also highlights the nurse’s role in patient education, evidence-based care, and interdisciplinary teamwork.
