Catalog description

Advanced topics in applied fluid mechanics. Review of continuity, momentum, and energy equations for viscous, incompressible fluid; voracity and circulation concepts and theorems. Selected topics from the following areas; Complex potential, conformal mapping and applications. Airfoil and wing theory. Boundary layer theory; similarity solutions for laminar flows, integral techniques for turbulent flows. Compression and expansion waves in compressible flows; oblique shock waves, Prandtl-Meyer flow. Propagating waves and applications; shock tube, transients in duct systems.
