Contemporary Moving Image

Catalog description

The Contemporary Moving Image is a survey of important films and screen-based work that have pioneered new trends in visual storytelling throughout the past 50 years.  We will look at notable domestic and foreign films, selected television programs, commercials, video art, and digital work, with a special emphasis on work that has introduced new visual structures into our popular culture.  Students will watch full-length programs and craft short response papers based on their analysis of particular structural aspects of each production
