Catalog description
This course will examine how the experiences of women were different from those of men from the Colonial Period to the Progressive Age of the United States. Emphasis will be placed on the social construction of gender, particularly on how ideas of the relationship of gender to family, home, labor, and war guided the behavior of men and women, and how these ideas changed with the passage of time.
