Catalog description

This course looks at the legacy of Shakespearean drama in modern movies through a close reading of select, influential plays, tracing their influence on and expressions in multiple examples of contemporary cinema. Topics include issues in adaptation and authorship, youth and popular culture, genre and visual style, representations of gender and family, and the historical and cultural contexts for play and film production.
