Students will examine school as a social institution, significant educational innovations, and how each of these informs educating a diverse population in an urban context. The course content will provide a broad understanding of the historical, philosophical, and sociological foundations of education informs how educators design curricula, adjust instructional strategies, interact with learners, families, and communities, and determine solutions to ethical problems.
