Catalog description

This course focuses on the study of curriculum development and the curriculum review process. Emphasis on this course is placed on comparing varied approaches to curriculum design and recognizing the impact of a well-articulated, rigorous, aligned curriculum. This course is a study of varied curricular models, taxonomies of thinking and cognitive frameworks, and the curriculum cycle and review process. Emphasis is placed on research and practice relevant to curriculum design (current and historical) and the planning and monitoring of curriculum within educational settings. Students will explore the leadership qualities and processes necessary to lead a curriculum review process and explore methods of evaluating a curriculum for alignment to local standards within a discipline and the inclusion of future ready skills. Students will engage in a curriculum review and will also create professional learning plans on the topics of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
