This course surveys the major theories and perspectives of counseling including the Psychoanalytic, Behavioral, Humanistic-Existential, Cognitive, Constructivist-Post Modern, and Systems approaches along with an integrated, eclectic or confluent perspective. Students gain an understanding of the role of theory, the philosophical basis of the theories, the divergent methods utilized, and the utility of each perspective. 3 semester hours
