Catalog description

This course focuses on the evaluation, diagnosis, and comprehensive care management of primary care needs of adolescents, adults and geriatric clients. The clinical component focuses on the role of nurse practitioners in primary care settings including comprehensive physical assessment, formulation of differential diagnoses, and evidenced-based management plans for acute and chronic illnesses as well as health promotion, health restoration, and disease prevention strategies. Interdisciplinary clinical experiences and collaborative practice are emphasized. Students will register for 6 semester hours, completing 200 clinical hours at selected facilities under the guidance of the clinical preceptor.
