Catalog description
Public relations practice will be explored throughout the stages of a crisis event. Areas of focus include risk communication and crisis planning, crisis management and ethical response, and evaluation. Students will learn how to preempt, prepare for, and respond to corporate, nonprofit, and government sector crisis and will learn PR writing skills. Through case studies and in-class activities/simulations, the course emphasizes the practical application of public relations theories, principles, strategies, and tactics when developing and implementing crisis public relations plans. Approved for distance education.
