This course introduces students to integrated approaches to philosophy, politics, economics, and law in the history of ideas. Focuses on figures like Plato, Aristotle, Augustine, Aquinas, Hobbes, Locke, Smith, Rousseau, Mill, Marx, Keynes, and Hayek. The course also explores the challenges raised by the professionalization and separation of philosophy, politics, economics, and law and uses historical systems of political economy to reintegrate these fields. This is a core course for BGSU PPEL majors. Prerequisites include at least two PPEL Groundwork courses: PHIL 1250 , ECON 2020 , ECON 2030 and either POLS 1100 or 1710 required for enrollment.
