Introduction to Nursing

Catalog description

The student will be introduced to the concepts of nursing, health care, individuals, family, community, environment, health, and clinical judgment. A broad overview of the history of nursing, health care, nursing theory, current trends, and varied roles of nurses in a complex health care system are explored. Professional roles, legal issues, ethical implications, and nursing values will be examined. Students are introduced to the concepts of QSEN and the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice. Health career opportunities and admission to the BSN program will be discussed. Approved for distance education.
