Catalog description

This course consists of an introduction to the principles, methodologies, and applications of molecular biological procedures used in clinical laboratories. Emphasis is placed on the molecular biological procedures used in medical laboratory science, including those used in the molecular detection of infectious agents that cause human disease, human identification, the diagnosis of inherited diseases, the diagnosis of cancer, and the determination of risk factors for the development of cancer. Approved for distance education. Prerequisite(s): Acceptance into the Medical Laboratory Science professional program or instructor approval.
