Catalog description

History of the first Latin-American state to experience political, social and economic revolution in the 20th century; precedents in the 19th century, leaders and institutions produced; emergence of Mexico as a relatively stable and progressive, yet authoritarian state. Crisis of the postrevolutionary regime and formation of a new regime centered on competitive elections and aperture of the economy. While the course focuses on Mexico, there is a strong emphasis on the relationship with the United States.
