Catalog description

A survey of the behavioral, cultural, and anatomical evolution of the hominin lineage through study of fossils, archaeology, and geology. Topics include the origins of monkeys, apes and other non-human primates, stone age tools, art and symbolism, the evolution of bipedal walking, the origins of the genus Homo and dispersal from Africa, modern human origins, Neanderthals, and the impacts of climate change in human evolution. Students will examine stratigraphy, geochronology, and paleoecology to understand the environmental context of human adaptation.
