Catalog description
This course explores how film production, aesthetics, and reception are impacted by socioeconomic factors and how film, in turn, influences and shapes society. Using intersectional and cross-cultural approaches, the course asks how global film industries are dealing with questions of cultural diversity, investigates the representation of identity categories such as race, gender, class, sexuality, and ability in international cinema, and studies movie audiences and their responses to different film and media productions.
