Literature and Adaptation

Catalog description

This course will examine literary texts and their adaptations across a variety of media and genres (e.g., film, theatre, music, and digital media) as well as theoretical frameworks for understanding adaptation. Throughout the semester, students will consider how adaptations reimagine an original text and in so doing, complicate the very notion of a ”source text.” May be repeated up to six hours if topics differ. Prerequisite(s): One of the survey classes in the English Studies in Historical Context: ENG 2110 , ENG 2120 , ENG 2610 , ENG 2620 , ENG 2640 , ENG 2650 , ENG 2740 , or ENG 2750 .
