This course will examine the novel in a specific historical and cultural context and explore how the novel as a genre responds to intellectual and sociopolitical currents during its period and literary movement. May be repeated up to six hours if topics differ. Prerequisite(s): One of the survey classes in the English Studies in Historical Context: ENG 2110 , ENG 2120 , ENG 2610 , ENG 2620 , ENG 2640 , ENG 2650 , ENG 2740 , or ENG 2750 .
