Catalog description

This course introduces students to literary texts within their socio-cultural and critical contexts. Students will learn how the historical and cultural contexts influenced the author’s work. Additionally, students will read several literary scholars’ analyses of the specific text to see the many ways readers can interpret, analyze, and engage with the primary texts. Students successfully completing the course will find their critical reading, thinking, and writing sharpened through careful reading, intensive discussion, and analytical writing. Prerequisite(s): ENG 1001
