Introduction to Teaching Secondary Science

Catalog description

Fall, Spring. This course provides first year students with an introduction to organizational and curricular issues in secondary science. It focuses on understanding the interrelated nature of the sciences as well as individual science courses. Key concepts in science education will be addressed such as organizational structure, curriculum standards, inquiry, lesson planning and science/technology. One two-hour lecture plus field experiences is assigned school settings. Requires FBI/BCI background checks valid throughout the semester of enrollment. Prerequisite(s): EDTL 2020 and EDTL 3400 .
