An overview of teaching social studies in grades 4-9. Topics include the nature of social studies, introduction to curriculum standards, inquiry-based learning. lesson planning fundamentals, and instructional resources. Open only to middle childhood majors with a social studies concentration. One two-hour lecture and one two-hour lab in middle school setting. Requires FBI and BCI background checks valid throughout semester of enrollment.
