Continuation of CHEM 3410 . The second of a two-semester sequence of organic chemistry. Taken in conjunction with laboratory course CHEM 3450 or CHEM 3460 . Biological compounds such as carbohydrates, lipids, amino acids, proteins and nucleic acids are studied in addition to the continued study of common functional groups. Other topics include polymers, catalysis, oxidation and reduction reactions, metabolism, percyclic reactions, and the chemistry of drugs. Three lectures. Prerequisite(s): C or better in CHEM 3410 . Corequisite(s): CHEM 3450 or CHEM 3460 .
