Catalog description

The first course in a two-semester sequence of organic chemistry. The structure and reactivity of organic molecules are examined. Topics include mechanisms, stereochemistry, molecular orbital theory, conformational analysis, synthesis and modern instrumental techniques. In lab students will synthesize and study the properties of organic compounds. Extra Fee. Prerequisite(s): CHEM 1270 and CHEM 1280 or CHEM 1370 and CHEM 1380 . Credit allowed for only one of CHEM 3060 , 3410.
