This course provides hands-on experience by involving students in the isolation and characterization of novel bacteriophages from soil samples, utilizing various microbiology and virology techniques. This course is part of the SEA-PHAGES (Science Education Alliance-Phage Hunters Advancing Genomics and Evolutionary Science) research team, hosted by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
