ASL and Bilingual-Bicultural Education

Catalog description

Explore the bilingual-bicultural philosophy of education for students who are deaf by analyzing the critical cultural and linguistic components perpetuated through residential life. Examine instructional practices and assessment strategies of professionals who use ASL as the primary mode of communication in all academic settings. Students will attend a Deaf Residential School practicum experience as a component of this course. May be repeated up to 6 hours if residential placement differs. Prerequisite(s): Grade of C or better in ASL 2020 or consent of program.
