Catalog description

Exploration of traditional and experimental animation concepts and techniques with an emphasis on the basic principles of 2D animation. Students in this class will learn various 2d and mixed media animation principles and techniques in an effort to produce a series of short artistic animations. Students will learn about concept development, storytelling, working with time, and how to employ art and design elements to help convey ideas that affect the audience on a cognitive and emotional level. After doing a series of short animation exercises while learning the concepts, students will develop a longer animation that may be shown at ArtsX and submitted to animation festivals. Prerequisite(s): Grade of C or higher in ARTC 3100 and ARTC 3211 or consent of instructor. Extra fee.
