Catalog description

This course explores topics fundamental to art and 2D design. Students engage in visual problem solving, combining practice with theory focusing on the elements and principles of 2D design, including color. We introduce art making as process and inquiry through studio-based research by exploring multiple creative strategies, through material experimentation, and the application of critical theory. We will use design to ask questions as we engage art practices that bridge both historical and contemporary contexts. Required for art majors and minors. Extra fee. Can be taken with 1030 or 1120.
