Medical Surgical Nursing I

Catalog description
Focuses on the application of the core components of nursing practice to adult patients experiencing actual or potential alterations in health. Strengthens the four competencies of nursing practice including human flourishing, nursing judgment, professional identity, and spirit of inquiry and Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN). Emphasizes the concepts of nutrition, metabolism, endocrine, elimination, and integumentary. Lecture: 4 credits (60 contact hours). Clinical: 3 credits (135 contact hours).

Students taking both NSG 212 and NSG 219 should enroll in the same clinical/lab section of each course (NSG 219-1501 and NSG 212-1501). 10-week lab rotation. ALL students for NSG 219 will meet in Lab on Tuesdays from 11am-Noon and 1501 sections will meet again on Tuesday's 1:00pm-4:00Pm. Clinicals will liely be held on Wednesday for 1501 sections (Clinicals day/time are subject to availability) Course web enhanced and scheduled on-campus meetings as indicated.; Instructional method: IP; BP
