Provides an orientation to the field of additive engineering technology (AEG). Emphasizes will be given to its history, terminology, range of materials used, understanding of the industry landscape, and competitive advantages of AEG. Integrates hands-on experience and observations to facilitate the introduction to basic AEG processes. Lecture: 3 credits (45 contact hours).

This is a competency based course. This allows students to demonstrate mastery of course competencies to complete the course successfully. This academic approach recognizes prior knowledge and allows students to work at a flexible pace. Students demonstrate mastery through multiple forms of assessment and complete the course when all competencies have met the proficiency threshold.
