Artificial Intelligence Literacy

Catalog description
This course surveys several topics relevant to artificial intelligence (AI). The purpose is to improve students’ literacy with AI and machine learning. Students will use a conceptual approach at the theoretical and technical levels to examine feed forward, recurrent, and convolutional neural networks, as well as tree search methods, and identify their use cases. Students will also investigate the philosophical principles of designing and training AI. Additional focus will be placed on considering the ethics of responsible AI use and its effect on public policy. Lastly, students will learn how to effectively utilize large language models.
