Blackhawk Technical College · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Focuses on developing number concepts, mathematical language, and whole number topics, and using place value concepts to perform addition, subtraction, and multiplication using multiple digits, and division with single digit divisors and without remainders; identifying and using all basic mathematical symbols. Identifying simple fractions and developing the concept of fractions as numbers as well as analyzing two and three-dimensional shapes, applying basic concepts of measurement and money, developing measurement concepts, and creating visual data. Also focuses on performing basic organization and analysis of graphics as well as using critical thinking skills and applying the mathematical properties to problem solve, perform computations, estimate results, and apply mathematics to real-world situations. Learners communicate mathematically by using accepted tools and technology; by using appropriate vocabulary, notations, and labels; and by using estimation strategies to determine the reasonableness of a solution. *Credits earned in this course will not be counted toward the number of credits needed for any degree.
