Catalog description

4 cr. hrs.; 3 lecture hours; 2 lab hours per week. Introduction to the fundamentals of Western music, including scales, key signatures, intervals, triads, and seventh chords. Topics include rhythmic concepts, chord symbols, and diatonic harmony in major and minor keys, with an emphasis on part writing and voice leading. Includes a required lab component focusing on ear training and sight-singing.
