Prerequisite: HIST 125 not required for enrollment. Surveys expansion of Western civilization since the 17th century. Examines the age of kings, the French Revolution and Napoleon, the development of nationalism and industrialism, and the rising tide of violence in the 20th century. Particular emphasis is given to the spread of Western ideas and institutions throughout the world. 3 lecture hours; 0 lab hours per week. IAI: H2 902
