3 cr. hrs.; 3 lecture hours; 0 lab hours per week. Prerequisite(s): BIOL 150 "C" or better, or concurrent enrollment in BIOL 150; and Program Director approval This course introduces students to the health insurance industry and the role of insurance in healthcare delivery. Students will learn step-by-step procedures for generating, processing, and submitting claims to commercial, private, and governmental health insurance programs. Emphasis is placed on understanding insurance terminology, claim forms, coding basics, and compliance requirements, preparing students for entry-level positions in healthcare administration and billing.
