Catalog description

3 cr. hrs.; 3 lecture hours; 0 lab hours per week. Prerequisite: ECE 200 "C" or better and instructor permission This course is a study of a variety of informal and formal observation and assessment techniques used in early childhood classrooms and how to use the information to inform the instructional process. Legal, ethical and external factors on assessment will be covered along with appropriate strategies for engaging families in the assessment process. 25 hours of supervised experience will be required in a licensed early childhood setting. A current physical, TB test, background check, and/or fingerprinting may be required.
